Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know.

Write to [email protected] attaching the complete text, a summary of a few lines and a couple of words about yourself. You need no agent and no introduction: you need the finished book.

We read everything that arrives. We do not publish everything we read: a publishing house is one because it chooses.

No. Reading and evaluation are free, and we write it down because almost no one does.

We ask for no reading fee, no evaluation contribution and no expenses refund under another name.

Within 30 days, and we answer everyone — including when the answer is no.

Six months of silence is a rude way of saying no. If a text is not for us we say so, and when we can we also say why.

No, and there is no arrangement in which this happens. No printing contribution, no minimum copy purchase, no “publishing package”. If we publish a book, the costs are ours: printing, cover, typesetting, ISBN, metadata and distribution.

This is not a courtesy. When an author pays, selection is worth nothing — and with it the catalogue, for every other author.

Buying your own copies at the author discount is a different matter, if and when you want to: it is a commercial choice of yours, not a condition for being published. See the question about copies for book presentations.

8% of the cover price for print and 20% for the ebook, from the very first copy sold: not of net receipts, and not in tiers that start at thousands of copies almost no book reaches.

The sales statement arrives every six months, with the figures, not with a summary.

The publishing contract lasts five years, not twenty. If the book has not been released within twelve months of signing, the rights return to the author without them having to ask.

At expiry it is renewed only if both parties want it. A catalogue is held together by books that sell, not by contracts that expire late.

No, and the reason is practical. Whoever assigns an ISBN from their own prefix is recorded as the publisher of that book: it is not the sale of a neutral code, it is publication. That is why we assign the ISBN when the contract is signed, never at proposal stage.

And there is a consequence worth knowing beforehand: self-published books are excluded from several institutional channels — for instance from the publication purchase scheme of the Apulia Regional Council, which accepts proposals only from publishers, printers and bookshops.

WriteForge is the tool you write with: the manuscript stays yours, and writing there ties you to us in no way.

Once finished you will be able to submit it to GiaNet Media Edizioni from inside WriteForge and follow the status of the evaluation. That path is decided but not yet live: until it is, the way in is the same for everyone, [email protected].

WriteForge proposes; the publishing house publishes, after choosing.

Yes. You buy copies at a 40% author discount off the cover price, with no minimum and whenever you need them: you resell at cover price and the margin is yours. No royalties accrue on these copies, because the discount replaces them — and it is worth more than they would be.

We do not work on sale or return, meaning we do not hand over copies to be paid for only if sold: we do not have the structure to track it today, and we prefer to say so rather than promise it and do it badly. Copies are paid for at order and shipping is on the buyer.

If you sell on your own on a regular basis, check with your accountant how those sales should be treated: on our side it is a sale of copies to you, the rest is yours.
